THE TEEPEE KIDS
The Teepee Kids by Melbourne designer Tom Gaunt are a series of standing lamps inspired by the beach landscape around The Otways. Scattered along this coastline are freestanding teepees hand made by beach wanderers out of driftwood. The stem of each Teepee Kid is carefully picked from the shoreline, each having their own sculptural characteristics that have evolved whilst drifting through the ocean. The Macrocarpa pine lamp bases are handmade by Melbourne wood turners and finished in natural oil. Each lampshade is individually hand woven with marine whipping cord by the designer.
